for my accepted tv demonstrate. Yes, this season was a major departure from the new premise of the present, some people may be place off by how different it is. It’s more violent, more disturbing, and considerable more intense. But it had me on the edge of my seat during almost every episode and I loved the unique additions to the cast, specifically Demian Bichir. Mary-Louise Parker was phenomenal, and I loved the direction Andy’s (Justin Kirk) character took. There is quiet humor, but it’s great less zany. My one criticism is what they did with Doug – he simply doesn’t fit in well outside of Agrestic. But Nancy’s progression from small-time dealer to a player in a Mexican drug cartel and its legal implications whose tantalizing to gawk, and Jenji Kohan turned in a terrific finale, as usual.

I don’t gaze how anyone can only give this exhibit one star. This season was definitely different, but it was about time they headed off in a novel direction. The characters all had a unusual launch in season 4 after most of Agrestic burned down. There are some really silly subplots and mountainous surprises along the arrangement. Many times I found myself wondering what the hell Nancy was doing and how could this possibly turn out okay for her in the extinguish? But that only added to the suspense and my enjoyment. My only honest criticism was that Conrad and his family were not accounted for. I hope they develop a comeback sometime in the future to lunge things up!

There’s some good footage here, although not much new for anyone who’s seen other documentaries on the Russian front. The numerous errors really start to become irritating after a while though. Not only factual and historical errors, but even basic geography, such as: [paraphrase] “The Soviet North front would attack through the Balkans [?] and defend Leningrad.” How about the “Ju-88 Stuka?” Or “the Panzer III had a top speed of 18 mph?” Who edits this stuff? The anachronistic use of footage is also extremely annoying, although fairly common in WWII documentaries, such as showing Tiger tanks or Henschel 129s while talking about Barbarossa. For the price it’s not bad if you want to see some historical war footage, but if you want accuracy this isn’t the one.

The footage is astonishing. I watched a lot documentaries before. About 30-40% of this one was unknown to me, something new. The episodes with the tank’s top shoot out clean from the tank’s body got stuck in my mind. My uncle was a T-34 tank driver at WW2. He got through such incidents twice, losing the rest of crue comrades.

“House, M.D.” is one of the best shows on television right now. It has brilliant writing, great stories, and an amazing cast lead by the incredible Hugh Laurie.

What’s it about?

“House, M.D.” is about a brilliant doctor (named “House”) who treats patients with ailments that other doctors have failed to cure. House is aided in his search for what is wrong with his patients by a skilled team of doctors. Among the more interesting cases are people suffering from hepatitus, rabies, and a tape worm.

While the medical cases are facinating, the heart of the show is Hugh Laurie’s performance as Dr. House. Dr. House is brilliant and damaged in soul and in body. He walks with a limp caused by muscle death in his leg. This ailment combined with his natural propensity for sarcasm make Dr. House a grumpy and blunt man who is not afraid to say what he thinks. Here are some of the most popular:

From…”Mob Rules”

MobsterLawyer: My brother’s not gay!

House: No, but he’s certainly delightful.

From…”Three Stories”

“I’m sure this goes against everything you’ve been taught, but right and wrong do exist. Just because you don’t know what the right answer is – maybe there’s even no way you could know what the right answer is – doesn’t make your answer right or even okay. It’s much simpler than that. It’s just plain wrong.”

From…”Pilot”

House: “Ah, yes, but as the philosopher Jagger once said, ‘You can’t always get what you want.’”

Cuddy (later in the episode): “I looked up that philosopher, Jagger, you mentioned, and you’re right, you can’t always get what you want. But as it turns out, if you try sometimes, you get what you need.”

From…”Paternity”

Hello, sick people and their loved ones! In the interest of saving time and avoiding a lot of boring chitchat later, I’m Doctor Gregory House; you can call me “Greg.” I’m one of three doctors staffing this clinic this morning. This ray of sunshine is Doctor Lisa Cuddy. Doctor Cuddy runs this whole hospital, so unfortunately she’s much too busy to deal with you. I am a board certified diagnostician with a double specialty of infectious disease and nephrology. I am also the only doctor currently employed at this hospital who is forced to be here against his will. That is true, isn’t it? But not to worry, because for most of you, this job could be done by a monkey with a bottle of Motrin. Speaking of which, if you’re particularly annoying, you may see me reach for this: this is Vicodin. It’s mine! You can’t have any! And no, I do not have a pain management problem, I have a pain problem… but who knows? Maybe I’m wrong. Maybe I’m too stoned to tell. So, who wants me?

If you watch this show, you won’t be disappointed.

Just to make something clear that isn’t really obvious in the item description (or on the packaging itself)–the show is presented here in non-anamorphic widescreen. That is, it is NOT formatted for viewing on a widescreen television. Viewing on a 16 X 9 widescreen TV, you will have to choose between a picture that is distorted and stretched horizontally or one that has black bars on all four sides–top, bottom, left and right. Sadly, Universal’s unfortunate and outdated decision has caused the quality of this DVD set to suffer.

Are Infrared Saunas excellent For You?

February 11th, 2010 by sammy7057469

Yes they are!

Many people don’t realize the disagreement between a regular sauna and an Infrared Sauna. The main disagreement is that while regular saunas heat the air around your body, an Infrared Sauna heats your body directly, warming you from the core.

One example of a status you may have encountered an infrared heater before is in some hotels in the bathroom; the light that is on timer is most often, though not always, created by an infrared heater.

Far Infrared Ray is a naturally occurring energy that heats objects using announce light conversion. Studies have proven that these types of rays can not only improve circulation, but they also have the capability to repair damaged tissue throughout the human body.

Since this type of ray heats a body in the same procedure that sunlight does, many advantages of sun exposure can be felt without the risk of skin cancer. customary saunas also form it hard for some people to breath comfortably in the heated air. Infrared Saunas are splendid for all ages and they promote healthy sweating which is a release of toxins by heating the body directly.

Not only will your power bill be lowered, but using an Infrared Sauna will allow for greater, more extensive tissue penetration. These saunas have been feeble to treat diseases and drug addiction, and have been found to increase flexibility and benefit bodies obtain rid of toxins. Cellular activities are instantly enhanced, which results in better circulation and, often times, an increase in metabolism.

Volumes 1 and 2 of this anime were released in several different versions. Both volumes were released seperately, together in a 2 pack and also together in this version, with an art box to hold all future volumes. I’d say this version is your best bet seeing how it will hold all the DVDs for the series… as oddly shaped as they are. Then again, we all know upon the completion of the series animeworks will release a different boxset containing all volumes. I recommend this version.

Really, there’s not much to say. This is a quality anime with good action and a solid plot. The characters are likable, and there’s not even too much gore, for those who are sensitive to such things. The world seems well thought-out, and I enjoy the pacing of the story. This was actually well worth the purchase price.

It’s not the typical hyper-chibbi-tentacle stuff. So, if you’re bored and hyper and looking to just watch a bunch of explosions, this isn’t for you. But if you are looking for a good story, with some intrigue, and characters who aren’t bouncing around like a Saturday Morning Cartoon, you owe it to yourself to watch this!

There are no tentacles. No Japanese school-girl uniforms. Just a good story using high-quality animation; with characters with their own motivations. Characters you’ll find yourself rooting for! Not too many GOOD anime come up, these days. So, this was a nice surprise. Check it out, you wont be disappointed.

My Review of Hardware

My Review of Hardware. My Review of Hardware.

Movie Title: Hardware

Hardware is available for streaming or downloading.

Nineteen years ago I remember going to see a little film called Hardware and I remember HATING it because I felt deceived by the trailers that shamefully advertised this film as The Terminator meets The Road Warrior which being a huge fan of both of those classic sci-fi films was precisely what I was expecting to see. What I got, and was completely unprepared for, was a pornographic visual nightmare filled with gratuitous violence and an incoherent plot about some killer Terminator-esque combat droid found in the sands of a post-apocalyptic wasteland that’s transformed into an industrial art sculpture by some hot chick and I remember wanting to walk out of the theater but felt compelled to at least get my (then) six bucks worth before leaving the theater offended and I never looked back… until now.

Buy,Download, Or Stream Hardware! Click Here

A few years later I picked up the Hardware soundtrack because I remembered it was the most memorable part of the film. I loved Simon Boswell’s haunting electronic score and the unforgettable Public Image Limited song the Order of Death which echoes in your head with “This Is What You Want…This Is What You Get” lyrics ironically summarizing my initial reaction to the film perfectly. Around that time I happened to catch Richard Stanley’s following film Dust Devil – The Final Cut which I really enjoyed with it’s great visuals and also featuring a terrific Simon Boswell score.

When I saw that Hardware was released on Blu-ray I decided to give it another look. It’s amazing how the quality of blu-ray makes you revisit many films that you may not have otherwise particularly liked watching the first time around but I remembered the striking post-apocalyptic visuals and 80’s industrial music video style and having appreciated Richard Stanley’s succeeding films I knew he was a director with vision and made me decide to give it another chance. Upon watching it I had remembered the exact moment that made me want to get up and leave the theater when Jill’s perverted neighbor played by William Hootkins (yes that’s Porkins from Star Wars) starts singing the “wiberly-woberly walk” and I still find his character repugnant but that’s really the whole point. Stanley is intentionally creating a dissonant atmosphere showing the deconstruction of culture precipitated by dependency on technology, intrusive surveillance and the pervasiveness of mass media and invasion of privacy.

Buy,Download, Or Stream Hardware! Click Here

Watching it now I can appreciate the film’s socio-political undertones such as population control and the realization that this film was actually a few years ahead of its time anticipating the post-modern industrial motifs of Ministry. To the film’s credit, Richard Stanley’s stylized vision is what sets Hardware apart from the formulaic commercialized mainstream blockbusters of today and somehow manages not to date itself too much and remains a completely unique independent film unlike anything I’ve really seen since.

Richard Stanley discusses his ideas behind the intended “Hardware 2: Ground Zero” script on the supplemental features that was written at the time of the first film but was never made due to legalities between studios that has prevented him from fully realizing his concept on a grander scale. I actually found myself interested in seeing what Hardware 2 might look like made today with the latest advancements in special effects technology that would enable Richard to open up the canvas and let his ideas spill out onto the screen. Watching the interview you can see that Stanley is a very intelligent and articulated artist who knows what he is talking about and has a precise understanding and vision for his craft. There’s also an excellent hour-long documentary “No Flesh Shall Be Spared” produced exclusively for the blu-ray that features all new interviews that will make you appreciate the film and the complications of working with visual effects pre-CGI along with deleted scenes, a German theatrical trailer and some of Stanley’s short films including “Incidents In An Expanding Universe” the Super 8 genesis of Hardware.

Hardware is definitely not a film for everyone and if you you are looking for accessible sci-fi-/horror that’s easy to swallow you won’t get it here. On the surface Hardware is a visceral nightmare whose disturbing and offensive imagery is conveying ideas and themes far more complex than the average mainstream audiences are simply willing or capable of grasping and most will find it a struggle to interpret the lines between self-indulgent art and purely cinematic entertainment.

“This is what you want… and this is what you get.”

I have been a fan of this movie from the first time I watched it years back. if your into sci-fi this movie will score high for you. The movie transfer to Hi-Def….I watched this movie via Blu-Ray in 1080i Video & 5.1 Audio, the visuals are outstanding for a older film just a few minor film blemishes in the start of the film but nothing to scream about. The audio was tight & separation was flawless. Bottom line, A great transfer..A must have for any sci-fi movie buff.

Season 5 is a very interesting season to review. Many people have mixed feelings about it. Some say its the best and some say it is the downfall of Charmed. I somewhat agree with both sides, as my opinion is the first half is great up unitl the point where they vanquish Cole and shift into baby mode. Although some of the baby episodes are good, the show definately changed after the birth of Wyatt. This season was pretty light hearted with many baby-centric episodes but this season does have its dark points. Highlights include: A Witch’s Tail, Sam I Am, Centennial Charmed, The Day The Magic Died, and Oh My Goddess.

22. Oh My Goddess Part 1 – The Titans are released and out for vengeance against the elders.

23. Oh My Goddess Part 2 – The sisters, now greek goddesses, are seduced by their powers.

Although this season had its fair share of ups and downs, it is still worth purchasing. Many changes to the show happened in this season, making it worth the money.

Well, we had a character change for series 4, and we get another for the 100th episode* this season. Yep we bid a fond farewell to Cole : ( But there will be a tiny new cast member – this season sees the birth of Piper and Leo’s baby.

Season 5 stills retains it’s sense of realism with the added drama and wit that made CHARMED a huge success, but for me this series lost that special something that made it a must watch programme, though it picks it up as it nears the end.

Yesterday. I enter Circuit City at Union Square in NYC with my wife, who is from Japan, and this DVD is on three modestly sized plasma TVs a the top of the escalator–which is crowded with mesmorized viewers.

We could not support it. The note was so awesome that we found ourselves standing there, entranced.

My wife establish it correctly when she said to me in Japanese, “Whatever he does in life, people will always be facinated with his performances,” meaning no matter what freakish things he does to or with his body, it honest boring wont achieve the fact that he truly is the King of Pop (though I must then appoint Prince as the Emperor of Pop–sorry Michael) .

That really summed it up; we were watching one of the all time enormous masters of performance, and indeed were lucky to be alive when his career was in beefy swing.

Michael Jackson is one of the all time greats–like Harry Houdini, Fred Astaire, Jimmy Hendrix, or Miles Davis. He’s a master of the stage, and–though I remark with myself–has a improbable musical ability that can’t aid but mesmorize.

On this DVD, there is of course a lot of lip synching. This isn’t so great a music concert as a stage explain. And as a stage reveal, it’s one of the greatest of all time. Impartial seeing Jackson dance to his have music is worth your money.

*****There was one musical atomize that was facinating, though it wasn’t performed by Jackson. At one point in the performance, he shares the stage with a solo guitarist–apparrently honest for effect–but the guitarist completely takes over the stage. Jackson points him out to a stage hand, who tries to halt the solo, and the guitarist objective keeps going with a unbelievable, inflamed, crazy solo.

It’s delicate rare to survey a solo like that unless you’re in the biz. I immediately idea of Mike Stern–who this was not–totally dominating the indicate. Jackson should have let him go a bit longer, but instead started the next bit and had the guitarist’s shuffle pulled.

Bottom Line: I sing that says a lot about Jackson’s scheme of performing–he’s a perfectionist; it’s all planned out, and it follows the concept exactly. Other performers would have played counterpoint to that solo (as the guitarist was starting to do when Jackson ‘interrupted), shared the limelight, and acknowledged that this is what musical performance is really all about–that there’s really no such thing as a solo artist, unless of course you’re Michael Jackson.

Anyway, I can’t serve but give this DVD 5 stars on sheer greatness.

There are plenty of well written reviews on this page and the standard box set of season 3 Uncut Bleach page that all articulate very well just how awesome this show is. I am strictly going to talk about the Limited Collector’s Hollow Mask which comes with this set, so you can decide if it is worth it the extra money. Someone smarter than me will probably post the picture, or I will if I can figure out how. It still warrants a description though, more than just a visual.

I am not usually one for “collectible knick knack” items found in limited edition sets, like figurines, etc. But this is just really, really cool.

Buy,Download, Or Stream Bleach Uncut Box Set, Vol. 3: The Rescue w/ Limited Collector’s Hollow Mask! Click Here

The hollow mask is very high quality, seems like it’s some type of material similar to ceramic–but very solidly molded (not delicate.) It is boldly painted, and brilliantly, is it a fragment of the mask (a “broken” mask piece) and comes with a display stand, the base of which is weighted and is the familiar substitute soul reaper badge.

It is not meant for cosplay, and the “broken” Hollow mask (it belongs to a certain character, and figures quite prominently in later seasons) is slightly smaller than the size of the dvd box set. (It comes packaged in its own box, which is shrink-wrapped with the dvd box set.) Again, I am not usually one for collectible items, but as a fan of the show, this was just one of the coolest possible bonus items. The inner anime geek in me is in love with it.

Now that they’ve gotten into the Soul Society and the Seireitei, Ichigo and Co. have ANOTHER problem: rescuing Rukia and escaping with their body parts intact.

Unfortunately, it’s not going to be that easy. “Bleach: The Rescue” kicks everything about this brilliant anime up a notch — lots of blood, sword-fights, a fiery climax at the execution grounds, and some amazing character development. But the best part is that the treacherous conspiracy merely hinted at in prior episodes, which sparks a minor civil war within the Seireitei.

Yoruichi starts the badly-wounded Ichigo on a special new training regimen — to rescue Rukia, he must achieve achieve bankai (the ultimate release of a zanpakuto) in three days. In the meantime, Uryu has encountered the most horrendous of Soul Reapers, who is responsible for the death of a loved one, and Captain Hitsugaya is confronted by an old friend who tries to kill him — accusing him of murdering Captain Aizen.

But the chaos really starts when Rukia’s execution day rolls around: mass murder is revealed, captains turn against one another, and Renji fights a devastating battle against the implacable Byakuya. Ichigo appears on the execution hill with devastating new power — intent on rescuing Rukia and defeating her brother once and for all. But when he seems to be losing, a horrific new change comes over him.

And in the meantime, the conspiracy that’s ripping apart the Soul Reapers is revealed — the identify of the Big Bad and his sidekicks, the reason he wants Rukia dead, and how many people he’ll coldly destroy to get what he wants.

“Bleach: The Rescue” is a turning point for the entire series — everything before it has built to this point, and everything in the future will spring from it. For an action anime, it is also quite heavy on the plot as it sets up the Big Bad: faked murders, real murders, conspiracies, hypnotic tricks, betrayals, a clever triple-cross perpetrated by Gin Ichimaru, and Urahara’s hidden motive in helping Rukia.

There’s also lots of brilliantly explosive action using ice dragons, black fire, razor-sharp cherry blossoms, exploding Soul Reapers, a giant bone-snake, and a firebird the size of a submarine. The action only serves to underscore the tension that is building throughout the entire season, until it explodes on Sokyoku Hill. It’s also got solid dialogue, some quiet moments for Ichigo’s pals (hanging out in prison) and some flashbacks to Renji, Rukia, Kira and Momo’s days at the Academy.

Fortunately, all this dark stuff is speckled with funny moments like Ichigo’s relaxation in a healing spring (”I AM GOING TO DROWN YOU!”), and an entire episode in which the characters unwind and recover after the events of “the rescue.”

Our Hero really shows his stuff in this season — Ichigo puts his life on the line to reach an incredible level of spiritual power, and rescue Rukia no matter what happens. Too bad he turns out to have a freaky dark side (and Johnny Yong Bosch has a brilliant demon cackle). And Uryu inadvertently gets to the bottom of his grandfather’s death, and goes to devastating lengths to get revenge for what happened to him.

But most of the characters get to shine in this, although Chad and Orihime are somewhat neglected: the Yoruichi-obsessed Soi Fon, the kindly Ukitake and his best buddy Kyoraku, the happily hyperaggressive Zaraki, boy-genius Hitsugaya, and the fusty and arrogant Head Captain Yamamoto (among many others). We also learn how far Renji will go for Rukia, as well as the true reason why Byakuya has been so cold and seemingly cruel.

As for the limited edition, the big collectible toy bonus that differs from the regular one is apparently… a Hollow mask. Given the storyline here, I presume it’s one belonging to a certain orange-haired teen.

“Bleach: The Rescue” is a brilliant arc of action-packed, tightly-wound anime, with a shocking twist at the core of the story. Definitely a must-see — especially for everything that comes later.

Truly one of the greatest of all movie stars and a very underated actor this movie glows with Cagney’s talent in his depiciton of the life of Lon Chayney. Unlike so many hollywood bios of the time this move tends to steer away from the usual sanitization of a character and instead confronts the darker side of Chaney, a man beset by torments. Poignant, powerful in it’s day with the head on look at how deaf people were treated, and indeed with the tragic aspects of Chayney’s first marriage. For me this movie stands the test of time exceptionally well, thanks in no small measure to the performances, notably the conflict between Chaney and his first wife wonderfully played by Dorothy Malone. This is one of the great ones!

This is a wonderful bio pic of silver screen great, Lon Chaney, a character actor of great renown during the silent film epoch. All but one of his films were silent. Due to his ability to alter his appearance and play many roles, he eventually became known as “the man of a thousand faces”. It is ironic that this man who would forge a meteoric rise in the silent film industry was born to deaf mute parents in 1883.

The film shows the impact that being the son of deaf mute parents would have on his life in those unenlightened times. Lon Chaney (James Cagney)started his acting career as a stage performer in vaudeville, where he was a popular pantomime. His first wife, the beautiful Cleva Creighton (Dorothy Malone), was a chanteuse who had dreams of her own.

Unfortunately, once Lon Chaney and she discovered that she was to have a baby, their happiness would turn to bitterness and anger, due to Cleva’s shock at discovering that his parents were deaf mutes. Cleva and Lon Chaney would go on to have a son named Creighton, but she later caused a great scandal early in their son’s life with a very public attempt at suicide that would change all their lives forever.

This scandal was to end Lon Chaney’s stage career, and it sounded the death knell of his marriage. He ultimately divorced Cleva, who had abandoned both him and their son. The divorce resulted, for a time, in his tragic and heartbreaking separation from his beloved, young son. Chaney was to go on to reclaim his career, as well as his son, but would do so on film, rather than on stage, becoming an extremely popular silent film actor.

Lon Chaney was also a doting father who remarried in order to provide a suitable home for his son. His second wife was a former chorus girl named Hazel (Janet Greer). She was a woman who was to prove to be a loving step-mother to Creighton and a devoted wife to Lon Chaney. Always in the background, however, was the specter of Cleva, who was never to regain any of her former glory as a chanteuse and would live a life reduced in circumstances, as a result. She would live to regret her abandonment of their son.

Meanwhile, Lon Chaney was getting ready to take talking pictures by storm. While still in the prime of his life and at the peak of his film career, he was struck by a terminal illness that was to bring down the curtain for the last time. Bequeathing his acting legacy to his son, Creighton, who would later make his mark in film, renamed as Lon Chaney, Jr., Lon Chaney would leave the world at the relatively young age of forty-seven.

James Cagney is terrific in the role of Lon Chaney, creating a three dimensional portrait of a man whose childhood was to influence him is so positive a way. A veritable chameleon that was able to change his appearance at will, Lon Chaney would infuse the characters that he played with much feeling and emotion. His powerful performances would transcend the silence of the films, making him one of the great character actors of the silent film era. James Cagney sums it up best when he performs a bit of the Chaney role in the silent film, “The Miracle”. If Lon Chaney played it half so well, it is little wonder that he was so popular.

Dorothy Malone is excellent as the beautiful but shallow Cleva, a woman who would inflict much suffering on those who loved her, but who would also, as a result, endure much suffering herself, eventually realizing all that she had lost. Janet Greer is perfect in the role of Hazel, Lon Chaney’s warm and loving second wife, who would love and raise Creighton as if he were her own son, thereby changing all their lives for the better.

The supporting cast is also excellent with good performances by Jim Backus as Lon Chaney’s agent and publicist. A very young Robert Evans, a real life future film mogul, plays the role of studio head Irving Thalberg, a man with whom Lon Chaney would have a long term professional relationship. Evans is surprisingly engaging in the small role. Overall, this is simply a film that those with an interest in Lon Chaney will enjoy, as will those who simply love a good, well-acted film.
